Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS)
Positive REinforcement
Common courtesy, respect and kindness are an expectation in my classroom and it is the way I communicate with parents and students. Inturn, I expect the same courtesy.
I prefer to always use Positive Reinforcement when/where ever possible. My focus is on what a student is doing right and positive affirmation.
I like to use a looks-like/sounds-like approach in teaching and discussing and showing expectations in academic performance, social skills and problem solving. Clarity of expectations involving kindness, respect and good communication resolves confusion and misunderstanding.
I believe in calm communication, talking through a problem, listening to and hearing a person. If there is a rare, more serious infraction or escalation, then we will involve the principal, guardians and necessary parties.
